GOD’S PLAN FOR MY PERFECT MATCH
Today is my husband’s birthday. I can not believe how God orchestrated all the circumstances for us to meet. We first started chatting online. He lived in Iceland. I lived in Orlando.
I had worked for a wonderful media company in Orlando 8 years when I got a job offer that had me traveling from Toronto, Canada to Puerto Rico and lots of cool cities in between. After 9 months, I was laid off. Noooo. I had never been laid off. Too make matters worse I could not work in my field in Orlando for 2 years because of a non-compete I had with my previous company. Now, I can picture God up there laughing, because he knew I was going to receive the perfect severance package at exactly the right time — for his plan.
My husband Enzo has a benign brain tumor. He was actually re-cooperating from his second surgery at home at the same time that I was re-cooperating from my lay-off at home.
God is so cool.
We both spent countless hours each day, getting to know each other on the inside. I fell in love with his brain, his heart and his soul. He weighs 140 lbs, I weight 182 lbs. If I met him in person, I would not have been confident enough to think he could love a plus size woman.
We met for the first time in New York after 7 months of talking. And he flew to Orlando shortly thereafter and we were married. It was just right. I remember seeing the movie “Ever After” where the perfect Prince Charming says to Cinderella, “You are my match”.
I never believed it could happen to me, but God did. Enzo is my match. Can you imagine an Italian man, living in Iceland recovering from a brain tumor as a perfect match for a Kentucky tomato picker, living in Orlando? God could.
It’s been 14 years and I believe it as passionately as the first time I laid eyes on him.
Psalm 20:4-6 (NIV) May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.
God wants to give each of us our heart’s desires, but it is a walk of faith. I didn’t meet Enzo until I was 50 years old. And my walk with the Lord started when I was only 9. God became my heart’s desire first and out of that love, he blessed me even greater. God is waiting each day to become your heart’s desire and supernaturally bless you too.
